HYROX news / Ownership

HYROX ownership changes hands as founders join a L Catterton-led consortium.

Infront says it has completed the sale of its majority stake in HYROX to a consortium led by L Catterton and the HYROX founders. The parties have not disclosed the financial terms.

The short version

Infront has sold its majority stake in HYROX

Infront Sports & Media has completed the sale of its majority stake in HYROX to a consortium led by private-equity firm L Catterton and HYROX co-founders Christian Toetzke and Moritz Fürste. Investment firm WndrCo, founded by Jeffrey Katzenberg and Sujay Jaswa, is also participating.

Kirkland & Ellis, which advised the HYROX founders, said the transaction will return majority control of the brand to its creators. Infront’s own announcement confirms the sale of its majority stake but says that financial terms were not disclosed.

Editorial distinction: the ownership change is confirmed. The often-repeated €600 million valuation, the reported 60% stake, and the implied proceeds below are sourced reports or calculations, not financial terms disclosed by Infront or HYROX.

What is confirmed

Consortium

Founders and WndrCo join L Catterton

The buyer group includes Christian Toetzke, Moritz Fürste, L Catterton, and WndrCo. The founders are expected to regain majority control, according to Kirkland & Ellis.

Growth

The business has scaled quickly

Infront says the 2025/26 season included more than 100 events, over 1.4 million participants, and more than 1.5 million spectators.

From first investment to founder-led control

  1. December 2019.
Infront made its first investment in HYROX.
  2. October 2022.
    Infront became HYROX’s majority owner.
  3. September 8, 2026.
Infront announced the completed sale of its majority stake to the L Catterton-led consortium.

That timeline comes from Infront’s announcement. It is separate from earlier reports about possible buyers and possible deal structures before the transaction was announced.

What is reported about the valuation

A Bloomberg report carried by the South China Morning Post said the deal could value HYROX at about €600 million. The report was published before Infront announced completion, and Infront’s later statement did not disclose a purchase price or valuation.

A Chinese report from The Time Weekly, syndicated by Investing.com, said a source familiar with the matter put Infront’s pre-sale holding at 60%. If the reported €600 million valuation is used as a simple reference point, 60% implies approximately €360 million of equity value. That is an implied value, not a disclosed cash payment.

Why the wording matters: an implied stake value is not the same as sale proceeds. Debt, earn-outs, taxes, fees, rollover equity, and the final transaction structure could all change the amount actually received.

Where Wanda fits into the story

Dalian Wanda Group is connected to the story through its historical ownership of Infront. In a 2015 announcement, Wanda said it had acquired 100% of Infront with partners and held 68.2% of the group at that time.

Applying that historical 68.2% holding to the reported €360 million implied value of Infront’s HYROX stake produces a rough look-through figure of about €245 million. This is a mathematical estimate, not a reported cash return to Wanda, and it does not account for ownership changes, liabilities, taxes, or deal terms after 2015.

Why L Catterton is described as LVMH-backed

L Catterton is an investment firm with a strategic relationship to LVMH, not an LVMH operating brand. L Catterton describes its formation as a 2016 partnership between Catterton, LVMH, and Groupe Arnault, the family holding company associated with Bernard Arnault. Its role in the HYROX transaction brings consumer-investment and international scaling experience to the new ownership group.

HYROX’s growth backdrop

Infront’s official figures point to more than 1.4 million participants across the 2025/26 season. Separately, Forbes Australia reported in December 2025 that co-founder Moritz Fürste expected HYROX to close 2025 with roughly $130 million in revenue.

The revenue figure is a founder estimate reported by Forbes, not an audited result published with the transaction announcement. Taken together, the sources show why HYROX has attracted strategic and financial interest: a standardized race format, a growing event calendar, affiliate gyms, and a large participation base.

What the ownership change could mean

  • Founder influence: the creators are returning to a controlling role, which may keep the race format and community experience close to the original vision.
  • International scaling: L Catterton’s consumer-investment platform gives the consortium a capital and operating partner for expansion.
  • More scrutiny: a larger global event business will need consistent standards, reliable event operations, and clear communication as participation grows.
  • Open financial questions: the final purchase price, ownership percentages inside the consortium, and any debt or rollover arrangements remain undisclosed.

For athletes, the immediate race-day takeaway is limited: this transaction does not itself change the current event order, division standards, movement rules, or training requirements. Those details should still be checked against the official HYROX rulebook and the athlete briefing for a specific event.
